Fire Truck Visit Inspires Real-World Learning at MYIS

Early Years up to Grade 2 got to connect their learning from their unit 'How the World Works' to real-life firefighters in the Nonthaburi community.

Students from Early Years through Grade 2 enjoyed a memorable visit from our local firefighters as part of an authentic learning experience connected to the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The visit was inspired by our Peace & Unity (3–4 Years) class's "How the World Works" Unit of Inquiry, where students have been exploring transportation and the important roles people play within our community.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to see a real fire truck up close, explore firefighting equipment, and meet the firefighters who help keep our community safe. These hands-on experiences encouraged students to ask questions, make meaningful connections, and deepen their understanding through inquiry-based learning.

At MYIS International School, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Experiences like these foster curiosity, student agency, and an appreciation for the people who make a difference in our everyday lives.

It was an exciting and unforgettable morning for our young learners—with plenty of smiles and even a few first English words inspired by the visit: "Fire truck!"
